Cherry blossom branch painted with Japanese ink and watercolours on rice paper. Cherry blossoms (or sakura) are a national flower of Japan, it's a symbol of spring and fleeting beauty. The calligraphy inscription is a Japanese proverb:

花は桜木
人は武士
[Hana wa sakuragi, hito wa bushi]

which literally means that "the best blossom is a cherry blossom, the best man is a warrior" or samurai.

Both samurai and cherry blossoms were admired by all, but had a short and unpredictable destiny. Cherry blossoms could have their petals blown away by the wind, samurai could have his life cut short by military actions.

The painting is signed, sealed, wet-mounted on backing rice paper and ready to be framed or mounted on a silk scroll. Please use acid-free adhesives when framing. The painting is manually cut, please leave a few mm error margin for dimensions. Colours may differ due to differences in devices.
